Dresden Plate Finished – Finally!
Finally have a finished quilt to show. This Dresden Plate has been a year in the making.
I started it last May. Designed the top on EQ7 – my first design! Well, maybe it’s not an “original” block or design, but I did it myself! Finished the top and put it on the frame in August. [...]

Bias Binding Debacle
I hate all things bias. Totally suck at it. But my Dresden Plate quilt needs bias binding as the border will be done in a “wavy” style.
So when I found these directions I thought to myself, “Hey self, you only sew on the STRAIGHT of grain to make this. You can do this!”. Bought two [...]
Quilting along….
Well, I got started yesterday quilting the Dresden Plate. While I may use feathers in the border, I’m trying my best to stay away from them. I like feathers, but I’m getting bored with them. I’d like to make the quilting a bit more “contemporary” while keeping with the traditional look of the quilt.
This the [...]

I love EQ!
Remember my dilemma in my last post about how to make the wave border? I figured it out. I had forgotten that I had created my quilt in EQ (that’s what I get for procrastinating!). Here’s my EQ design:
Looks pretty darn close to my actual quilt, doesn’t it? Well, lookie there – I had already [...]
How do I create this border?
I’m trying to add this type of border:
on my Dresden Plate quilt:
and I’m not having any luck at all. I can’t figure out how to measure it out. I’d Google it, but I can’t even figure out what the heck this type of border is called. I know it’s not a scallop. It looks more [...]

Groovin’ on a Sunday afternoon
At least I was trying to get my groove on! I’ve got too many irons in the fire and decided to finish up some old projects before I start anew. First up – getting the Dresden Plate quilt on the frame.
I’ve only had the top done for about 4 months now! It’s about time to [...]

Dresden Plate in EQ
So, here’s the pattern I decided on for my Dresden Plate. A big shout-out to Peggi for helping me figure out the sashing block. She rocks on this program! Connecting Threads has this fabric on clearance and I’m thinking I’ll need more for all those sashing blocks so I’ve ordered 1/2 yard of 12 different [...]
30 plates done!
Yay! I ended up using some purple Patrick Lose marbled fabric I had left over from baby bedding I made for one of the girls in the Girl’s Club a couple of years ago for the plate centers. Matched beautifully!
The pattern I had originally planned to do may be thrown by the wayside. I [...]

One down, 29 to go!
Well, until I get more fabric for the binding and backing I can’t finish the “Modern Thinking” pattern I am making for my DH. However I have finally cut into my Mama’s Cottons fabric from Connecting Threads to make a Dresden Plate quilt. I am trying out Darlene Zimmerman’s Easy Dresden ruler. Simple as pie. [...]
