The hardest easy quilt I’ve ever made.

This quilt made me want to tear my hair out. Literally.

It is the quilt from hell that I made for an angel’s wedding.  Certainly doesn’t look like it should be that difficult for a fairly seasoned quilter, does it?? I learned so many lessons making this quilt that I could rival War and Peace in [...]

An odd thing to get excited about….

Is it really okay to get excited about an ironing board? I mean over-the-top, dancing-around-the-sewing-room, my-lord-the-wife-has-lost-her-mind kind of glee? Because that was what you saw at my house when I set this baby up.

I was SO tired of constantly tugging and pulling on my ironing board cover, which would pull up and roll over the [...]

Dodecahedron

It’s pronounced “doe-deck-a-HEE-drun” – according to my geek husband.  It’s a 12-sided object.  Here is half of it.

I knew there wasn’t going to be time or space for any quilting over the Christmas holidays, so I picked up a couple of quilting magazines from the bookstore to keep me happy.  When I flipped through the [...]

The Girl’s Club Banner

This is The Girl’s Club banner (last names have been smudged in the pic!). I’m in a club of eight girls who meet at least once a year, spending a 4-day weekend doing absolutely nothing but drinking, talking and laughing. I guess we may do a few other things if we get bored, but we [...]

Miniature feathered star

After the whirlwind of the last few weeks of summer, I finally have a chance to take a deep breath and show you my finished miniature!

The first one I made  was too big.   It was 6.5 inches, and I could not get some of the seams to line up correctly, no matter what I did.
I [...]

Beaver Nation Quilt

For those who were wondering what I could POSSIBLY be making with all those horrendous orange and black fabrics – here is the completed quilt!

I made this rag quilt for my friend Laura.  She and her husband Shawn are active Oregon State University alumni.

This quilt is bright and obnoxious and fun, which is PERFECT for [...]

Dresden Plate Finished – Finally!

Finally have a finished quilt to show. This Dresden Plate has been a year in the making.

I started it last May. Designed the top on EQ7 – my first design! Well, maybe it’s not an “original” block or design, but I did it myself! Finished the top and put it on the frame in August. [...]

Quilt theft and identification

There was talk on one of the quilt forums we belong to of a woman who made a custom-designed quilt for someone, and that someone (also a quilter) sold the quilt on Etsy as her own design and construction. First off, shame on that “someone” for being nothing more than a low-life thief. The quiltmaker [...]

9196 patches

Last week I mentioned a quilt I’d made that set my personal record for the most pieces.

It’s called Shoreline Log Cabin, and is from Judy Martin’s “Log Cabin Quilt Book” which is full of absolutely gorgeous quilts.  The book has directions for 15 quilts, and 6 of them are on my “I-Must-Make-This-Quilt-Before-I-Die” List.

I enlarged the [...]

Paducah Pineapple

Yay!  It’s finished!  My “souvenir” quilt from my trip to Paducah is finally complete!  (Well, at least the top is pieced… quilting it will be another story!)

I bought the kit for this quilt while in Paducah for the quilt show last April.  The paper-pieced pattern is from Laundry Basket Quilts and they’re calling it Hawaiian [...]
