Who was Joann, and where has she gone??
Pardon me while I blow off some steam.
This week, I decided it’s finally time to invest in a pair of applique scissors. None of my local quilt shops had any in stock, so yesterday morning I went online to Joanns.com to see what they had. Bingo! A pair of Ginger scissors, and on sale, no [...]

Dodecahedron
It’s pronounced “doe-deck-a-HEE-drun” – according to my geek husband. It’s a 12-sided object. Here is half of it.
I knew there wasn’t going to be time or space for any quilting over the Christmas holidays, so I picked up a couple of quilting magazines from the bookstore to keep me happy. When I flipped through the [...]
Apple Core coolness!
Just a quick post to share ONE of the things I’ve been working on this week…
Apple cores. I attempted – ATTEMPTED, I say! – my first apple core quilt about 5 years ago. Everything went fine until I started sewing the rows together, by machine of course. When I realized I was going to have [...]
Balloon covers for Sierra Leone
Are these cool or what?!!?
These are NOT balls. They’re fabric covered balloons!
Here’s the story behind this project.
My sister-in-law, Janet, is returning to Sierra Leone next month. She went a couple of years ago with some of her fellow church members. This is her description of what they’re accomplishing, along with some pictures from her most [...]
Second-fastest quilt in the west
Remember this quilt top?
No? Probably because I made it over a year ago. I didn’t like it much then, and I still don’t like it now. So, I decided to make a few changes.
Well. That’s a bit more interesting.
Looks kind of pixelated, doesn’t it?
Check this out – one of the fabrics I used for [...]
Little Wallet
While I was at Quilt Expo in Portland last month, I spotted this cute pattern.
It was only $3.00, so I bought it.
Today was one of those “meh” days. You know, a day when you’re feeling kind of blue, but you’re not sure why? And you just can’t get motivated to work on anything, and nothing [...]
A girl’s night in
Ingredients: iron, starch, paintbrush, templates, pre-cut fabrics…
and an NCIS marathon.
Sluuurrrrp.
It made for a very productive evening – I got 18 blocks basted and ready!

Art imitating life?
Is it just me, or does this flower look like a quilt block?
Huh. Will you look at that.
It’s a “Seven Sisters” block. Might have to put this one on the bucket list, just because I love the plant so much!
Miniature feathered star
After the whirlwind of the last few weeks of summer, I finally have a chance to take a deep breath and show you my finished miniature!
The first one I made was too big. It was 6.5 inches, and I could not get some of the seams to line up correctly, no matter what I did.
I [...]
