A fun and creative bunch of gals

I’m part of a group of wonderful quilters. We have get-togethers once a month where we chat, eat lunch, and share our latest projects. Today was the meeting for August, and it was wonderful! There was lots of gorgeous show-n-tell.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1762″ />Yvonne’s quilt. Bright, happy colors.

Another quilt by Yvonne. I love the prints! Very good use of stripes, too.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1752″ title=”Linda’s quilt” src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Lindas-quilt.jpg” alt=”Linda’s quilt” width=”700″ height=”390″ />

Linda’s quilt. I like the border fabric. Linda’s hiding behind the quilt.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1754″ title=”MicheilAnn’s quilt” I missed the details on this, but it seems there was a shop-hosted BOM of some kind where you only pay $5. According to Micheilann, it ended up being a LOT more than $5!

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1753″ title=”Lorraine’s applique” src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Lorraines-applique.jpg” alt=”Lorraine’s applique” width=”700″ height=”409″ />

Lorraine makes beautiful hand-applique quilts.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1745″ title=”cross also made this quilt, which was incredible. Each one of those ladies blocks are cross stitched.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1746″ title=”cross stitch ladies 2″ src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/cross-stitch-ladies-2.jpg” alt=”cross stitch ladies 2″ width=”467″ height=”700″ />

I cannot imagine how much work this was – I tried cross stitch ONCE and gave it up after about half an hour.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1747″ title=”cross stitch ladies 3″ src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/cross-stitch-ladies-3.jpg” alt=”cross stitch ladies 3″ width=”700″ height=”379″ />

She collected the series but didn’t want to put them in frames, so she hung on to them until she found the perfect quilt pattern to put them into.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1748″ title=”cross stitch ladies 4″ was taking pictures at an angle, if you’re wondering why they look skewed.)

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1760″ title=”susan’s tuffet 1″ src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/susans-tuffet-1.jpg” alt=”susan’s tuffet 1″ width=”700″ height=”399″ />

Susan made a tuffet. She was very pleased with it, and she should be! It was a hit.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1761″ title=”Susan’s tuffet” src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Susans-tuffet.jpg” alt=”Susan’s tuffet” width=”700″ height=”401″ />

A tuffet-making class is a distinct possibility for our next retreat!

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1758″ title=”Susan’s Dresden plate” src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Susans-Dresden-plate.jpg” alt=”Susan’s Dresden plate” width=”700″ height=”391″ />

Susan also brought her Dresden Plate she had started while we were at retreat in December. It matches her tuffet! She used a wool batt in this quilt and absolutely raved about it.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1759″ title=”susan’s quilt” is a Judy Niemeyer design.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1757″ title=”Susan’s challenge quilt” src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Susans-challenge-quilt.jpg” alt=”Susan’s challenge quilt” width=”700″ height=”405″ />

I love this feathered star variation! Susan said she wanted to make an easier feathered star. I see one of these in my not-too-distant future!

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1749″ title=”Gail’s challenge quilt” src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Gails-challenge-quilt.jpg” alt=”Gail’s challenge quilt” width=”700″ height=”399″ />

Here’s one of Gail’s quilts. Interesting sashing! This was a challenge quilt.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1750″ title=”Gail’s QOV” src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Gails-QOV.jpg” alt=”Gail’s QOV” width=”700″ height=”393″ />

Another Gail quilt. She made this for Quilts of Valor.

<img class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-1751″ title=”Gail’s shop hop quilt” src=”http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Gails-shop-hop-quilt.jpg” alt=”Gail’s shop hop quilt” width=”700″ height=”399″ />

Gail attended a shop hop with Susan (on the left) and NONE of the fabrics from any of the shops matched or had a common theme. So she over-dyed several of them to tone them down or put them in similar color families. I thought this was a brilliant solution!

Hope you enjoyed my little group’s show!

<a
