An addendum to my last post: DH brought my Janome foot pedal back. He said there was a huge clog of hair in it (I shed like a Labrador Retriever in the desert) and a heavy coating of fine white powder. It took us a while, but we finally figured out the powder was from when I would use carpet deodorizer you shake on the floor then sweep up. Haven’t used that stuff since we moved in this house, but the machine is 5 years old so it’s from the old house. I would have never guessed the pedal had anything in it – it looks like it’s completely sealed except where the cord retracts.
So just a heads up – if your foot pedal starts acting up give it a good cleaning – it may be filled with more than just electrical parts!
