Just now tried this tutorial and it works, i had to adjust it a couple of times and measured and it came out to . 5 inches across and 11/2 across center block!!!Yeah. i also love the way you pull the
thread to side when you start to sew.. I am making a quilt with lots of 4 patches made with two inch blocks, the quarter inch seam has to be perfect for all to match. I know this will help, Thank you so much!!!!

I AM having a ball! Cut out 400 blades over the weekend and have made 2 plates.
Finding that one is good - one not so good - block too big due to smaller seam allowance and so I am doing the rest of the plates on the machine (Bernina) that I can make a true 1/4" seam with. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pattern!

Dear Cindi
I really love your Dresden Plate pattern and would like to make it. For the record because your 'blades' have points and aren't rounded I think your border looks better the way it is - the scalloped edge might be better suited to the rounded blades on the dresden plate. What size were your blocks for this pattern?

Very nicely explained tutorial.
I'm getting ready to piece my first quilt and went to do as you suggested, but my "address labels" had to be placed so far from the needle because of my bobbin case! There is a big gap between the seam guide and the foot. Also I stacked up about 5 labels but my fabric still slips right over that guide as if it were not even there! Also can't put anything down on my bobbin case because of it's weird shape. Ugh! My machine is a Brother CS-6000i

Nancy says the pattern is called "Strip Joint". Be careful when Googling, now! :)

I use my grandmother's metal thimble. I guard it with my life!!! It has ovaled from years of use and fits me perfectly. I couldn't use anything else. Plus I think of her every time I out it on, she passed away almost 25 years ago.

Hi Deanna and Laurie! Thanks so much for commenting here. Pre-sashing is where you put the sashing on the blocks, instead of having one long strip of sashing and trying to match the blocks up to the sashing. If you look at my tutorial for the T-shirt quilt here:
http://www.seamstobeyouandme.com/2013/03/03/t-shirt-quilt-tutorial-for-beginners/
you'll see how to pre-sash. It REALLY helps keep all your blocks straight and true! Let me know if you have any other questions about it, and happy quilting!
