A few T-Shirt Quilts from our sweet followers

Our T-Shirt quilt tutorial has been viewed over 34,000 times, and what a thrill that is for us! We love seeing pictures of quilts created by our tutorials. Here are a few that have been sent to us:

Athena's Quilt

Athena’s Quilt

This quilt was made by Athena. She says “Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am finishing up the second quilt made from my dad’s old t-shirts. He passed away in 2011, so this has been a great way to use those t-shirts. The first quilt is on my 6-year-old’s bed and she loves her “Grandpa quilt.” My 4-year-old cannot wait until I’m done so she can have hers. And then I’ll have to scrounge up some more shirts to eventually make one for my youngest child.”

Beautiful, Athena! And what a lovely memorial quilt for your daughter.

Donna's Quilt

Here’s Donna’s quilt. She said: “My boyfriend and I made a tee shirt quilt from your directions and it’s awesome! His oldest son passed in 2005 and we used his tee shirts.  It will be a Xmas present for his youngest son!”

What a wonderful way for him to “cuddle up” with his brother. He’ll always remember him with this quilt wrapped around him.

Lynn's Quilt

Lynn’s Quilt

And this is Lynn’s quilt – which is pretty big at 105×72! She said “Cindi, thank you for a truly great guide. I’ve finished a beautiful and meaningful 4-square x 6-square quilt (15″ squares) for my son. It’s the coolest thing I’ve ever made. The only mod I made, which worked very well, was to sew the vertical columns together once the horizontal sashes were in place and then sew single, pre-marked vertical sashes between the columns. This saved a lot of cutting and piecing, though I understand the downside of working with a large item.”

Wow. Gorgeous!

I can understand why you did the pre-marked sashes, Lynn, and am glad you did it your way. Whatever is most comfortable for you, I say! Since I wrote the instructions for true beginners, I did pre-applied sashes for ease of application. Long sashes can be frustrating when one first begins sewing, LOL!!

How exciting to see quilts made from our tutorials. If you’ve got one you’ve made, please send us a picture – we’d love to show it off for you!
