I wanted to keep this one

More Birthday Blocks.  Okay, I know I’ve said “I love this one!” about half of these birthday blocks, but I really love this one.  To be honest, I almost kept it for myself.  Almost.

gael 3This little Dresden flower is soooo cute!!  I just love his adorable little petals, and how he seems to be happily bobbing in the soft twilight breeze.

gael 4 I wanted to do something with a miniature Dresden Plate, and this whimsical flower is my own design.  The petals were machine-sewed together, then everything was hand appliqued to the background.

A pineapple variation was its other half.

gael 2Meh.  I think this block looks better as part of a quilt.  Like this:

pineapple in quiltBack to the birthday blocks…..  they are quite different, aren’t they?  Ha.

gael 1They went all the way to Australia and are home now.

Sniff.

I’ll miss the sweet little dancing Dresden.

Definitely have to make another one, just for myself.

Peggi, your blocks always amaze and inspire me. And if you ever make another one of those dresden flowers, feel free to make an extra and send it my way — I absolutely love it!!!

  1. I’ve never made a Dresden flower before nor have I made a pineapple block. Both are on my to do list and I think you have given me the confidence to go ahead and try them. Yours are so pretty and those fabrics are to die for. I can understand why you would want to keep the Dresden flower. So cute.
