Tumbler in progress

Twelve days off and I’m going to be a quiltin’ fool. I’ve got the red and white stripes done. Rows are laid out, and I’ll work on the blue tomorrow. In case you’re wondering, I’m not making this for the 4th of July holiday. Just making it because I’ve been wanting to make a tumbler quilt. I saw a flag tumbler on Pinterest and figured, why not? I have no pattern – just worked it up in EQ and am sort of winging it.  I love the scrappiness of this, and I’m glad I used off-white and tannish colors instead of white. Although, if I had it to do again I’d alternate the reds light and dark to give it more dimension. Oh well, what’s done is done. Best thing is – it’s all from stash. Feels good to “purge” some of my old fabrics to make room for the new that I’ll now be forced to buy!

  1. I like how this is looking…what size are the tumblers? I may have to start digging for reds, whites/beiges & blues in my scrap bags.

    • Hi Debbie! The reds and whites are 6″. I plan on doing the blue in 3″ scrappy blue squares. Guess I should probably put that in my post, shouldn’t I?!

  2. This is really cute. The scrappy white blocks really add depth. I have 2 tumbler rulers and have never made anything with them. Thanks for the inspiration.
