I’ve been away from the sewing machine for a while, helping my husband build a deck onto the back of our house. It’s gorgeous, if I do say so myself! Wade did an awesome job. All that remains is adding some lattice trim and a couple of stairs. And the cleanup, of course. That’s my job!
In quilting news, I continue my fascination with the 10-minute block. I started a scrappy version with a pile of batik charm squares I’d purchased in Paducah….
…but I didn’t get very far before realizing the “scrappy” was driving me crazy. There wasn’t enough contrast between the center diamonds and the background, and the control freak in me just HAD to make them matchy-matchy. I ripped the seams out and started pawing through the charm packs, pairing them up. Then I had a happy moment when I realized there were 4 squares of each batik! Serendipity!
I have to say it was a LOT of fun finding the perfect complimentary fabric for each block!
