Well, I got started yesterday quilting the Dresden Plate. While I may use feathers in the border, I’m trying my best to stay away from them. I like feathers, but I’m getting bored with them. I’d like to make the quilting a bit more “contemporary” while keeping with the traditional look of the quilt.
This the the pattern I think I’m going to use in the triangles. I practice my quilting on a whiteboard before I ever put needle to cloth. It’s easier to erase my mistakes on the whiteboard than to frog them out of the fabric. I think it looks fun and breezy.
I plan on working on it again today, in between helping DH cut the grass and doing laundry. I like to listen to music on the iPod while I quilt. The new favorite? Smoke and Mirrors by Lifehouse. The beat to every song is perfect for quilting! Not too fast, not too slow. I was listening to The Monkee’s Greatest Hits yesterday (for those under 45, you spring chickens may have to Google them), and they are now off the quilting list. I just had to stop quilting so I could dance. At least once a song. I’ll never get this quilt done if I keep that up.
PS: I absolutely SUCK at circles.
