Multi-tasking mess

How do quilters do it? Multi-task several projects at once? I feel quite out of sorts with everything going on here.  There are 6 projects in the works in these two pictures.

There’s the Trapunto pillow I’m attempting in the sewing machine, the postage stamp quilt folded up on the table waiting for the borders, and three pictures waiting to be hung. Oh, and that’s the vent that fell out of the ceiling (thankfully not on my head) and needs to be re-hung. On the left-hand side of the table are the fabrics I bought in Paducah – yes, in April – that have yet to be put away (the colors are just too pretty to be stashed in a cabinet!!).

Then there’s the leftover blocks from my Dresden Plate quilt waiting to be made into a tablerunner and the black & white fabrics I have pressed and re-folded at least 3 times in preparation of making a circle quilt.

Lastly, I’ve got the Swanky fabric Peggi gave me some time back cut out to start a Paintbox quilt by Oh Fransson! The Kona classic jelly roll I had purchased went perfectly with this fabric. I’m sure you can tell by this picture how much I like order. For heaven sake – I’ve even got them color coordinated – yikes!!

I’m stopping everything to make the Paintbox blocks. I’ve had the Paintbox block bookmarked for ages. Just love it. Oh Fransson! had a quilt-along but that’s way too much pressure for me. I have to work at my own pace. Obviously. She started that quilt-along in January, and I’m just now getting started. I had to clean the room before any further work could go on. Everything is put away, tabletops are wiped down and sparkling, floor swept, water in the iron, bobbins wound, sewing machine cleaned and needle changed.

I matched up the  solids with the prints….

….and started sewing them together yesterday. Here’s the first 9:

Actually, there were 10 that I finished but I couldn’t get a good picture of them. Sigh. I’m just too symmetrical. In fact, it’s driving me batty that the upper left corner block isn’t straight. I need help……
