Well, until I get more fabric for the binding and backing I can’t finish the “Modern Thinking” pattern I am making for my DH. However I have finally cut into my Mama’s Cottons fabric from Connecting Threads to make a Dresden Plate quilt. I am trying out Darlene Zimmerman’s Easy Dresden ruler. Simple as pie. Cut out the size you want (I did 4″ plates) and line up the tool on the strip. I did 4 strips at a time so cutting out was very fast. However sewing and pressing all the points – whew! – now that took a while. Oooh, don’t these look scrumptious?
It takes 20 “plates” to make one Dresden circle, so I used 20 different FQ’s. I was able to get 13 plates from one 4″ strip of each FQ. These will be perfect for a 12″ block.
How pretty is that?! This is the first Dresden Plate I’ve ever made and I’ve got to admit – they’re pretty tedious. However I just plugged in a movie so it wasn’t so bad. You can pretty much sew these with your eyes closed – scratch that – you really need your fingers LOL! I think I’ll have enough plates left over to finally make the Plates For Your Table tablerunner by Kim Walus at Moda Bakeshop. I just love that pattern!

P.S. Peggi and I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas! Hope you get all the quilty things you wished for!-)
