I bought myself a new (to me) sewing machine! It’s a Janome 1600P DB. Here it is next to my Brother :
It’s a monster next to that cute lil Brother, isn’t it? LOTS more throat space, 9 inches to be exact. My Brother is a great little machine, I’ve had it for 5 or 6 years and it has been much loved and very heavily used. My one and only complaint about it is that at 5 inches, the throat is too small. So when I came across the opportunity to buy this used Janome from a friend, I jumped at it! It’s like a freight train. No bells and whistles, just a heavy-duty straight stitch machine that sews at about 137 miles per hour. It came with lots of extra bobbins, needles, and feet, 2 of which are quilting feet. Yippee! I’ve already started practicing my free-motion quilting, which I had given up on doing with the Brother! All that space is so nice…..
