I can’t be the only one with this problem. I’ve been working on a scrappy 9-patch/hourglass quilt from Quick & Easy Scrap Quilts for months now (so much for quick, eh?), and is the first one I’ve ever done with hand-applique. I now have reverence, admiration and respect for anyone who does hand quilting. The border is simple leaves and flowers, all from one shape.
I’ve finished 3 of the borders and have 3/4’s of the 4th one to finish sewing. I’ve been looking at it for 2 months and just can’t seem to find the “oomph” to get this last border done. I’m excited to do the quilting on it – I’ve already planned what that will look like. I’ve got two other quilts I need to finish with the same problem – I can’t seem to get the borders on them! Borderphobia maybe?
I love, love, LOVE this quilt!!!! Hey, Cindi? Christmas is coming. Wink, nudge.
Ok, pulling my head out of Dreamworld.
I am standing right next to you on this one. Sometimes crossing that finish line seems impossible. That’s one of the reasons I do so many of these ridiculous mini quilts. They are a good distraction and are finished quickly, which gives me a sense of accomplishment. Are you burnt out on hand-applique? Have you attached the other borders yet? I can’t tell from the picture. I was thinking maybe if you attached the other borders, the visual of seeing the quilt almost finished would push you over the edge. – Peggi
What a great idea – sewing the other borders to the quilt! I just might do that this weekend.
Hate to let you down, buddy, but since I probably will NEVER do another hand-appliqued quilt this one is staying on my chair to keep me warm once it’s done! However if I ever get the notion to make another one, it’ll be for you. Promise.
